There are many reasons for wanting to fly into an event. Speed, privacy and security being near the top of the list. There is also the simple fact that it’s FUN!
However, there is also the unavoidable truth that aircraft emissions damage our planet. What can we, at Helipad, can do about it?
Finding the Right Balance
Many of the UK’s larger events are held in remote locations, far from the more heavily populated areas. For this reason, public transport options are often limited. Travelling by car or coach frequently involves long hours emission-laden queues on all the roads leading to and from the event – or travel by helicopter.
For those who choose the latter and fly to Helipad-managed events, we will do all we can to minimise carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and fuel burn.
Forward Thinking
Helipad uses advanced technology to co-ordinate safe and orderly movement of aircraft. This includes coordinating take-offs, landings and in-flight navigation.
Our air management and air traffic control systems keep unproductive airtime to a minimum, saving fuel and reducing the time it takes to get passengers to their destination.
Efficiency
Our heliports all meet or exceed CAA requirements.
This ensures that we operate our heliports safely and also ensures that we manage air traffic efficiently.

Our ground crew are trained and ready to help passengers exit their aircraft – along with their belongings – safely and efficiently.

Avoiding Built Up Areas
Most events operate over relatively short periods, within social hours. The airfield is also sited away from urban areas. This limits the impact of noise pollution.
New Technology
Helipad maintains a keen interest in the development of new technology that helps to reduce the environmental impact of helicopters, from the use of bio-fuels, electrification, hybridisation and, potentially, the use of unmanned flight.
Clean and Green
We leave each site clean and tidy, returning it to the green field as good, or better, than we find it.
